It was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. Unfortunately after going through it, I can see that I was drawing pretty much the correct way.Ive looked on YouTube and cant find a good tutorial for what I need.Blank screen. Set it up for lathe, and just simply draw a 2d profile of a part for turning. Not get a 2d profile from a 3d solid model like they do on YouTube.
I want someone to just draw a part in 2d for a turning operation using lines, chamfers and radii. The videos I find on YouTube either draw in 2d, but for a mill, or they create a 2d profile for a lathe, that they extract from a 3d model, or they just use pre-packaged primitives. Not pseudo CAD. REAL CAD Can someone just please point me in the direction of something like this Thanks. BTW,drawing 2D is so easy. You will get it.If you buy the software, have them make a screaming deal on the videos for Lathe and Mill,,CAD and CAM. Real cad and first class cam for multifunction lathes, in an integrated package. As said mill, I dont have the lathe portion of the software, but more often than not I dont need a 3d model to get the job done; Im a machinist not an ME. I can tell you that the class is well worth the money, it will save you countless hours of dinking around. The class is taught by a machinist, not an employee of BobCad not a software person who has never once set foot in a shop. One of keys to success is to use the software as much as possible, practice is essential like most things. One of problems with BobCad (which I have mentioned in previous threads) is that 99 of their educational material is written by software people not machinists. I used all the training materials provided by B.cad before taking the class. What I found out from class was what I had been doing was fine but there much more efficient methods to get from a blank page to code. Also despite the bum rep BobCad has here it is very powerful piece of software, some fairly large companies are using it for 4 and 5 axis work. PM me you want and maybe I can provide some help, at the very least the class teacher so you get to a seminar. Cheers. Bobcad Tutorials How To Do SomethingBut if I really need to take a class, to learn how to do something extremely basic. To help the user. Not hinder. If I can find a FREE tutorial like the one I described above. And if it shows me an easy way to do what I need to do with BobCAD. If I say nay to this package, then my boss will not purchase it. So its sort of up to me. In a way. Since Im the primary programmer here. Or maybe surfcam. Or one of the myriad of other programs out there. Thanks. It was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. Unfortunately after going through it, I can see that I was drawing pretty much the correct way.
